Tips, Tricks, And Advice For Your Organic Garden
Ideas from Apartment Gardening

Whether it is basic lawn care or meticulous focus on a flower collection, everyone wants to have an appealing lawn and garden. This desire is often not fulfilled, not because of a lack of effort, but because certain small things can be overlooked. A few special tips for your home garden can make sure you get what you want.

Pick your fruits and vegetables first thing in the morning. A morning harvest will ensure that your produce is holding the maximum amount of moisture. Also, if you pick in the morning, this will give you a chance to eat those items that day, when they are their peak of freshness.

Store your seeds well. If you do not store your seeds properly, they will not last long. A great place to store your seeds in a dark spot that is cool and has low humidity. You could even use a refridgerator. You can use zip bags to hold the seeds themselves.

When deciding to plant a garden, it is important to survey the areas available for planting and determine which will be the best location. Whether you grow your fruits and vegetables in your yard, on your patio in containers, or on your apartment balcony, your plants should be in a location which is exposed to sunlight. To yield the best harvest, most crops need to be situated in an area which is an open location that is sunny.

You should get a heat lamp to warm your plants during the winter months if you are growing an indoor garden. Plants need a constant temperature around 65 degrees. It can be expensive to keep a home or apartment at that constant temperature. A heat lamp is a cheap and inexpensive way to give the plants the heat they need to grow.

If you're planning on gardening inside, the first thing you should consider is an adequate light source. If your windows are small or receive little light due to their positioning, a plant that requires little sunlight will be more comfortable and healthy. If you want to grow a plant which requires more light, you can invest in grow-lights.

To save money on seeds, only use a small portion of the packet. In most cases, only a pinch of seeds are necessary, and seeds can easily be stored for the following year. You can also try splitting seed packets with your neighbors and friends. This is a great way to garden on a budget.

If you are on a budget and would like to purchase a soaker hose, but can't afford the expense of the hose, try this less expensive technique that will get the job done with less money. Purchase foam pipe insulation, the kind that is sold to keep water pipes from freezing, instead of expensive soaker hoses. It works the same but at half the cost. Plus the foam will eventually degrade into the ground and aerate the soil.

The perfect lawn or garden takes a lot of hard work, time, and devotion. Even with these, though, many gardens can fall short of your goals. By following the tips given here, you can make sure that doesn't happen, and that your lawn or garden is as good in real life as it is in your head. Readmore Gardening ideas on a budget
